The management of Kisii University has come under sharp criticism for lacking the capacity to carry out their mandate as required by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
A team consisting of Proffesors George Magoha, Crispinus Kiamba, and Patricia Kameri-Mbote carried out a research and their report was that the quality of education was low in the University.
The report also found out that the university was giving courses without the approval of CUE.
"The report finds that the involvement of the chancellor in the affairs of the university was marginal. The committee has advised that he should be involved in the advisory and visitation of all activities of the university. The university is also giving some courses without the approval of CUE," says the report.
This is in addition to the closure of six Kisii University campuses which are Isebania, Kehancha, Eldama Ravine, Keroka, Nyamira, and Ogembo.
The report proposes the moving of some 200 students from Isebania and Kehancha campuses to Migori campus, 200 students from Eldama Ravine to Kabarnet campus and another 600 from Keroka, Nyamira and Ogembo campuses to the main campus.
