Operations in Kisii town came to a standstill on the better part of Monday, October 17 followingthe students of Kisii University taking to the streets.
The students were protesting the decision by the university management that would see them sit for their examinations only if they cleared their fees balances.
"All along we have been having our semester exams by paying atleast three quarters of our fees.we are not ready for the sudden changes which are imposed on us without consultations," said one of the senior students.
By the time of going to press, the battle between the students and the anti-riot police was still on and efforts to reach the varsity's Vice Chancellor Prof Akama hit a dead end as he would not take calls.
