Preparations to host President Kenyatta during the 2nd graduation ceremony at Kisii University on Friday are almost complete, the DVC in charge of academic affairs has said.
Speaking today morning at University’s main pavilion, Prof. Maurice Amutabi has reiterated the institution’s ability to host high profile leaders during such occasions.
“I know the pavilion isn’t yet complete but it will be ready by tomorrow morning. Our contractors have worked resiliently to ensure it is complete alongside parking lots. We have ability to host the president and his team has confirmed his attendance”, he said.
He lauded Kisii County government for massive support in aim to complete the structures by providing Dibbers and tractors to clear the graduation squire besides furnishing all roads leading to the Main Campus.
“Am grateful to what the county government is doing. They have given us enormous support and have proved to be true friends. They have also promised to secure some tents for guests and their support is undeniably massive”, he added.
The don confirmed attendance of other high profile leaders and academicians during the occasion that will see more than 2000 candidates conferred with undergraduate and master’s degrees, certificates and Diplomas in various specializations.
“Many leaders have also confirmed their attendance and am sure it will be an incredible ceremony. I request all graduants to report early for us to avoid confusions”, noted the don.
He said all security arrangements have been put in place with Kisii OCPD Mr. Tom Mutsya assuring the University of a Beefed Security. According to him, over 200 police officers shall be deployed for the occasion.
This will be the first time the president will be attending the ceremony in the institution after cancelling last year’s occasion due to state commitments and subsequently delegating it to Education CS Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi.
