Kisii university students are now appealing to the county government to provide water for them within the institution's compound.
In the recent three months an acute water shortage has hit Kisii County prompting water vendors to sell the precious commodity expensively.
The student said that they were being forced to walk long distances in order to get water.
"We are forced to wake up very early each morning to go and fetch water at a spring located three kilometres from school," Cynthia Nyakerario a student said.
Private hostels which are known to house majority of the university students also lack a back up to sort the students whenever their is a shortage.
Gusii Waters and Sanitation Company (GWASCO) announced it's water rationing plans last month which makes the students struggle more in search of water.
Don Opiyo a student leader told Holidays to intervene and help sort the issue in time or else face the wrath of students.
"Their is no short cut its time Kisii County Government ensure that students get water failure to which we shall hold peaceful demonstrations until they act," he said.
The students spoke just a week after Kisii County Givernemnt promised to drill several boreholes to curb the water shortage in the county.
