Hundreds of Kisii University–Keroka campus students has welcomed the decision by the ministry of education to give the institution one year to comply with certain regulations pertaining offering of higher education.
The campus alongside nine others affiliated to Kisii University had been given an ultimatum of 90 days by CUE to close and have students relocated to the main campus due to lack of adequate and proper facilities hence compromising quality education.
Keroka campus students were happy with the one year allowance given by the Ministry of Education under the leadership of Dr. Fred Matiangi who held a meeting with the institution’s management and CUE officials on Wednesday.
“It’s a huge relief for us because many of us were pondering over how to start a new life in the main campus. The campus is accessible to us and reduces expenses in terms of accommodation because many of us come from the neighborhood. The extension of the period will allow the institution to comply with a number of requirements,” said Andrew Momanyi on behalf of the students.
They however challenged the institution to act swiftly and rectify a number of areas that were identified by the Commission of University Education.
