Kisii University will buy a device that will be used to provide First Aid for heart attack victims. Vice-chancellor John Akama has said.
The automated external defibrillator diagnoses life-threatening abnormal heart rhythms and treats them by delivering electrical pulses to the heart.
Akama said many universities lack such equipment that could reduce deaths caused by heart attacks and stroke.
"The device will help curb unnecessary deaths not only among students but also staff members in the institution. The equipment will also help medical students to acquire competent skills to help people in society suffering heart attacks," said Akama.
