Speaking in his office on Thursday morning, Vice Chancellor Prof. John Akama confirmed the agreement that was reached after intensive negotiations and subsequent bench marking in other institutions.

“We have agreed to release Sh20million for the construction of Media studio. This process has taken long due to limited budget of the institution because of its relatively small population of students,” said Prof. Akama.

Prof. Akama said that the institution will soon announce tender in mainstream media for expeditious commencement of the project to serve the increasing population of students admitted to pursue media.

“The tendering committee will be making the tender public very soon. We want the process to be a little faster to serve students. We know they have been operating on scarce resources and we are grateful that soon that would be a thing of the past,” added Prof. Akama.

This comes after media students threatened to boycott classes last semester complaining of limited facilities in offering media studies.

Student body President Rodgers Nyanumba hailed management for agreeing on the mega project saying it will benefit more than 500 students doing Journalism in the institution.

“The institution is heading to the right direction now. This is an immense achievement for the institution especially for media students. We hope they will be launching many other projects soon after this one,” said Nyanumba.
