Speaking on Friday during the institution’s second graduation ceremony, Dr. Joash Maang’i said there was need for the institution to produce Engineers.

“Our university will soon start offering Engineering courses. I have had lengthy talks with the management and we have come to a consensus that we build engineering block expeditiously so that students don’t have to go to pioneer institutions such as Nairobi University,” he said.

He said it was the mandate of the county leadership to assist the institution financially so that it is well equipped to compete not only regionally but also globally.

“It is our obligation to ensure we support new programs that have been offered in pioneer institutions of higher learning and this is part of devolved government,” he added.

The Deputy Governor urged parents to seize golden opportunities and encourage their children to enroll courses especially Medicine and Law that were recently accredited and satisfied by relevant boards.

“The county government partnered with this institution and this was instrumental to elevation of Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. Law is also offered here so encourage your children to enroll since we have competent tutors,” said Maang’i.

Vice Chancellor Prof. John Akama lauded the county government for its relentless and immense support to the institution and welcomed the School of Engineering elevation.
