The students who were suspended after an unrest hit the institution on the 17th and 18th day of October this year are claiming the varsity is torturing them mentally since the management has given them a deaf ear even after suspending them without being accorded a fair hearing.

In the suspension letters issued to the 42, the explanation to the enactment of the suspensions are not indicated neither is the date for disciplinary hearing cited.

The 42 who have now been out of the institution for over a month are saying that the institution has failed to honor the Kenyan constitution of according them a fair hearing as well as ignoring the provisions of the student’s handbook.

The institution’s management has, however, cited that their reluctance to grant the students a chance to face the disciplinary committee is as a result of a decision by a section of the students to seek justice from the courts.

“A section of the suspended students had ran to court and we have to wait for the court’s decision before we accord them a hearing since we don’t want to interfere with the court process,” said one of the senior administrators.

And as the end-of-semester exams began today, the 42 are expected to miss the examinations with their futures still a nightmare.
