Kisii University held it's 5th anniversary on Tuesday since the award of a chatter in February 2013 by Retired President Mwai Kibaki.
Heading the ceremony, the dean of students, Brother Francis Kerongo graced the ceremony to celebrate the institution's birthday.
"This is the fifth birthday since we were awarded a chatter. I am happy to say that this is our 5th annual cultural week," Mr Kerongo said.
Present for the celebration was; the vice chancellor Pro John Akam, Senator Sam Ongeri, Students leader Peter Kuria and various leaders within the university.
Addressing the students, the vice chancellor congratulated the students for being cooperative and making the university grow.
"I am happy for my students as you have made this university grow. You can not compare where we were five years ago. We are far much ahead than other universities," Prof. Akama said."
Our dream is to make this institution the best ahead of other universities nationwide. We have the full potential to do it. We will stop dreaming once we attain our dream!" student leader Peter Kuria said.
The climax of the celebration was the cutting of a 10-kilogram cake by Mr Akama.
