A section of ward representatives in Kisii county has dismissed a recent crowning of Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati as the new Gusii spokesperson.
Led by Samwel Apoko, the ward representative said that they will not recognise him as a spokesperson and wanted nothing to do with him as he was doing things without consultation.
"The elders under the umbrella of Gusii council of elders still remain the community's mouthpiece and they are the ones allowed to give advice to members of the community on which way to follow," said Mr Apoko.
He accused the city MP of being self-centred and they will not leave him to auction the community yet he does not represent them.
"The MP should just work on his political future in Nairobi where he is based, as he doesn’t understand we are facing as locals," he said.
Over the weekend, Mr Arati was crowned by a section of elders from the area as a community spokesperson a move that has raised mixed reactions.
