Registered private schools operating in Kisii County risk closure if found offering sub-standard education to their learners.

Kisii County Commissioner, Chege Mwangi has warned of dire consequences if any of the schools operated by private investors is found to be offering education that is below the required standards.

Speaking at a Kisii hotel during a county stakeholders meeting, Mwangi underscored the importance of both private and public schools using approved curriculum to teach their learners and ensure children access quality education as enshrined in the constitution.

"I am warning proprietors of private schools in this County that their schools risk closure and de-registration if they will be found and proved to be offering sub-standard education to children," he said.

Mwangi called for collaboration by all education stakeholders to ensure children access the best possible education to enhance their skills and improve their performance in national examinations.

He directed quality assurance officers from the Ministry of Education in the area to conduct a serious inspection in all schools.

"Make sure that all schools' administration are accountable for the quality of education services and curriculum delivery in their schools," he said.
