Lawrence Kisilu and Zamzam Mohamed will contest for the Mombasa Senatorial and Women Rep seats on Wiper tickets respectively in the August polls.The two aspirants join Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, who was given a direct ticket to contest against Governor Hassan Joho after Nyali MP Hezron Awiti opted to defect to Vibrant Democratic Movement.Kisilu, an accountant, garnered 4, 072 votes beating his closest opponent Kongowea MCA Jabess Odour who got 3, 409 votes.Zamzam garnered 5, 750 votes trouncing current Maendeleo ya Wanawake Mombasa chairlady Afiya Rama who got 2, 210 voters.Zamzam thanked her supporters for standing with her during the nomination exercise, and urged her rivals to back her candidature.“I want to thank all those who voted for me and I want to urge my friend Afiya to accept defeat and work with me,” said Zamzam, as quoted by Baraka FM. The Wiper Women rep aspirant is likely to lock horns with former model Sadaf Deen (ODM) and Jubilee's Amina Abdalla.Daniel Mwange will contest for the Changamwe parliamentary seat against Omar Mwinyi after he clinched the Wiper ticket.Meanwhile in Kilifi, Alphonce Taru and Shaban Mwanengo will battle it out for the Mnarani and Sokoni MCA seats respectively after winning during the party nominations.Taru garnered 476 votes while his opponents Anthony Kazungu and Mwache Roze got 289 and 195 votes respectively.Shaban Mwanengo trounced both Christine Akinyi and Omar Mbaruk to win the ticket for the Sokoni MCA ticket amidst claims of irregularities.
