Kisumu All Stars will officially be launched on February 3, 2018. The team, which is sponsored by the Kisumu County Government, was formed recently to participate in the National Super League (NSL).The team will cover Palos FC’s spot in the league. Palos withdrew from the league at the end of last year due to financial constraints.Speaking in his office in Kisumu on Friday, Kisumu County Director for Sports Kenneth Otieno said the team will be officially launched on February 3, at a ceremony set to be held at the Moi Stadium.Otieno said the process of forming the team was initiated a month ago where they carried out trials in all the seven sub-counties of Kisumu County.“That was followed by county trials where 30 players were selected to form the team,” said Otieno.He said they have an interim management team in place, which consists of former Harambee Stars player Nickanor Aketch who is the acting head coachAketch is deputised by former Palos FC and Agro Chemicals coach Paul ‘Yago’ Ogai who also doubles up as the goalkeepers’ trainer. “Former Harambee Stars player Francis Oduor is the technical director, Benjamini Opudo Oyugi is the team manager while Nicholas Ochieng is the CEO,“ said Otieno.“All the leaders are holding office in an acting capacity. We will soon open up a competitive process to get the team’s leadership,” he added.Kisumu All Stars first NSL match will be against St Josephs FC on February 10 at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium.
