Kisumu is among three counties that are set to host this year's Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup.
The regional tournament is scheduled to be played in November. Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa confirmed that some of the Cecafa games will be played in Kisumu's Moi Stadium as well as Kakamega and Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
A team of Cecafa officials led by the Secretary General Nicholas Musonye is in the country inspecting the venues.
On Wednesday, Mwendwa and the Cecafa team toured Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County where four teams will play their group matches as well as the quarter finals.
"We are following up on the progress of Bukhungu Stadium. So far they have done a good job at the VIP section. We’ve given details on what else needs to be done before final inspection on November 7," Mwendwa was quoted by the Nation.
Mumias Sports complex also in Kakamega will host some of the Cecafa games.
Last edition of Cecafa was hosted by Ethiopia in 2015 where Uganda won their 14th title after beating Rwanda in the final.
