She explained that the county was intending to use the fiesta to market Kisumu to both local and international tourists.

“We are identifying the things that are attractive in Kisumu. We know people love fish. People come for conferences from different parts of the country and they want to eat fish…specifically eat fish by the beach,” said Alai as quoted by Capital FM.

Going forward, the Tourism Executive explained that a number of changes will be made to make the fiesta more interesting.

Some of the changes she noted were; increasing the scale of the fiesta and renovation of the venue that was used for the past fiesta.

The August event will be the second fiesta to be heldin Kisumu this year.

During the Easter holidays, the county held its first fiesta at the Hippo point where locals were treated to a three-day of entertainment and local delicacies.
