Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Kisumu politician Brian Jobita, accused the county assembly leadership comprising of Majority leader Samuel Ongow, his minority counterpart Edwin Anayo, Chief whip Elijah Okeyo, and Minority whip Caroline Owen for the current wrangles ongoing at the county legislature.

Jobita said that the problems in the assembly have majorly been caused by undermining of the MCAs’ roles in the house by the Majority leader and the Chief whip.

He noted that most of the lawmakers have constantly complained of being undermined by the assembly leadership.

“Majority leader Ongow, Chief whip Okeyo and Minority leader Anayo have all failed to provide leadership in the house, and this is what is causing Kisumu as a county to lag behind in terms of legislation,” he said.

These leaders have been undermining each other’s role in the house and this has led to disrespect and bad blood among them,” added Jobita.

Also present was Manyatta businessman/politician Benson Onoka, who accused the county leadership of failing to bring a harmonious relationship between the elected and nominated MCAs.

Onoka said the rift between the two factions in the house is as a result of poor leadership.
