Kisumu County Assembly Minority Leader Missionary Atieno Auko has thanked his colleagues in the assembly for ensuring she assumes the office.

Auko who held a thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday at his home in Ombeyi Ward, Muhoroni Constituency said she owes her success to the County Assembly MCAs.

Auko said that she was elected on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but has friends from ODM Party as well which has the majority party members in the assembly.

The MCA however, stated that there was a group of MCAs who were against her assuming the office after Bob Ndolo had resigned from the position.

She said that her MCAs friends stood with her despite constant opposition from some quarters who were against her leading the assembly as the minority leader.

Auko said she will unite the Assembly Members tfor them to work as a team and deliver services to the people.

“This position is God given and I will use it to ensure there is peace in the Kisumu County Assembly,” said Auko.

The Assembly Deputy Speaker Pamela Omino led other MCAs during the thanksgiving ceremony and lauded Auko, saying that she is a steadfast leader who is not swayed by cheap politics whatsoever.

Omino told Ombeyi residents to support their leader noting that the position of minority leader now being occupied by Auko is a very important position.

Other MCAs who attended the ceremony includes, Aggrey Ogosi of East Seme Ward, Elija Omondi of Central Nyakach, Mourice Aloo of Ahero and Willis Ogonyo of Koru/Muhoroni Ward.
