A section of Kisumu County Assembly members has said they will not go against ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga in the running of the Assembly.
South West Kisumu Ward MCA Joseph Abiola said the election of a woman MCA to be the acting Majority Leader is one of the steps the Assembly is taking to follow the advice of Prime Minister Raila.
Abiola hailed former Majority Leader Samuel Ong’ou and his Deputy Osumba Olum for stepping aside following their suspension.
He congratulated Malin Olero and her Deputy James Omollo in their new appointments and urged them to ensure they lead the Assembly in the right direction.
“I am very happy for my colleagues who were elected for the two positions and it is now upon them to steer the Assembly to greater heights,” said MCA Abiola.
Speaking to Journalists in his Ward on Saturday while addressing the newly recruited ECD teachers, Abiola called upon the county residents to give support to the Assembly.
Abiola said the election of Olero is a pointer that the Assembly is gender sensitive as enshrined in the new constitution.
He however alleged that there are people who normally gather outside the Assembly to incite the public against the Assembly and urged them to stop such behaviours.
“We do not want distraction from members of the public who instead of supporting us are busy dividing us,” said Abiola adding that they have resolved to put aside their differences and work for the electorates.
