[Photo|iLaw Blawg]The Supreme Court will likely help the Opposition National Super Alliance (Nasa) on its presidential election results petition, over incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.Nasa through its leader Raila Odinga, announced it would head to the highest court in the country, to file the petition, saying Uhuru stole his win with help of the electoral body, IEBC, in the August 8 polls.Kisumu based lawyer Richard Onsongo, has indicated that the court will help Nasa in the case, as per the new laws that are now in place. In an interview on KTN News, the renown lawyer said new laws had been implemented, far from those that were used in the 2013 presidential election."Right now, things have changed. We have new laws to help in cases of presidential petition," he said."For example the court can ask relevant parties or respondents in the case, to produce certain documents that may be needed to continue with the case.""So Nasa will not have to worry over how they can achieve some crucial documents," said Onsongo, while in Kisumu, Thursday.According to him, Nasa should go to court prepared, and not worry about some documents that IEBC may have declined or delayed to give them.He further indicated that courts were the best places for any election petition or any other case, since justice will be done provided there is sufficient evidence.
