Kisumu bodaboda operators have been urged to join SACCOS in order to save their income for future use.
Imani SACCO chairman Gordon Ogweng said that some bodaboda operators use their earning without any plan as they have no access to easier banking facilities.
Ogweng who was speaking in Kondele Kisumu County on Thursday during a recruitment exercise said that SACCOS were the best solution for low income earners as they meet their needs.
“With SACCOS our terms suit everybody compared to other forms of banking facilities available and with bodaboda incomes. I urge you to join SACCOS,” said Ogweng.
He added that members of different can get loans at lower interest rates.
“SACCOs are known to offer loans at lower interest rates, so as nobody feels the pinch when repaying back the loans,” said Ogweng.
During the recruitment exercise, more than with 100 bodaboda operators join the Imani SACCO which is based in Kisumu County.
Ogweng said that they are targeting other bodaboda operators in the entire Western Kenya region.
“We are targeting to recruit more than 500 bodaboda operators, and our next target is Vihiga County where we will start recruitment next month,”said Ogweng.
