A four year old boy who was among the seven people wounded by bullets as anti-IEBC demonstrations turned violent in Kisumu is still in hospital.
The boy only identified as Jeremy Otieno was hit on the right arm by a stray bullet as he slept in their Carwash estate house.
He was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
The boy wore a face of agony, unable to comprehend what had happened to him with his shot arm dangling.
His brother, Patrick Otieno said there home was a kilometre from the roads where the crowds were staging the protests.
Kisumu Central ODM Organising Secretary Evans Otieno who accompanied the child to the hospital criticized the shooting of the boy.
One man was shot dead as police and crowds engaged in running battles.
Earlier, the protests had been peaceful as hundreds milled into the lakeside town’s CBD before proceeding to IEBC offices.
The procession led by ODM National Deputy Organising Secretary Rosa Buyu approached IEBC offices, hands in the air to signal that the protests were peaceful.
The procession stopped outside the office where police officers stood guard.
The officers asked the ODM official to select a team of five leaders whom they would let into IEBC office.
As Ms Buyu engaged the officers, a stone was thrown at the police from the crowd, sparking running battles as police fired gunshots into the air.
The deceased man was died after the protesters threw stones at the police with slings as the crowd regrouped.
