Kisumu Acting City Manager Doris Ombara has ordered opening up roads at the Kisumu Boys roundabout to give access to motorists and pedestrians.
This is due a delay allegedly caused by the rains among other issues.
"The road construction was caught up by the rain season and the Devolution Conference. The city management cannot just sit back and watch these unfinished roads," said Ombara.
She added: "We have mobilised the equipment that we have and we are going to put up temporary measures to make this place passable," Ombara said.
She added that the temporary road construction should be complete in the next two days.
"This part of the road is under the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA). There are two contractors involved, SinoHydro Company covering the roundabout to Nyamasaria and this other end the SBI construction," said Ombara.
SinoHydro Company stopped construction since the main water supply and the sewer system are constructed right in the road hindering progress.
"If the sewer which serves Kondele, Ondiek, Russia Hospital is relocated by Lake Victoria Water and Sewage and Kisumu Water Supply and Sewage (Kiwasco), then the road construction will go on," said Ombara.
