The business community in Kisumu has called for calm, even as Kenyans await results of the presidential election.
Kisumu business community, led by chairman Israel Agina, said the economy of the county will be greatly affected, if violence erupts, and if businesses continue being closed, like how it is, now.
A spot check in Kisumu town showed scattered movements, and pen shops, with transport vehicles nowhere to be seen.
According to the business community, things should go on, as usual, as Kenyans await results.
"We want all business activities in Kisumu to resume to normalcy. We would like our normal life to continue as Kisumu people are peaceful," said Agina.
Addressing the press, Thursday morning, they urged Kenyans to accept the election results, and the candidates to use the legal means, in case of election disputes.
On Wednesday, reports indicate their was protests in Kisumu town, prompting the police to lobe teargas to disperse the crowds.
