Kisumu is celebrating renowned former Foreign Affairs Minister, the late Dr Robert Ouko’s 25th Anniversary.
Dr Ouko was murdered on the February 13, 1990 and his body found at Got Alila in Muhoroni. He was one of the biggest political players during the Moi era.
Speaking during the anniversary ceremony at a Kisumu hotel, Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch urged the people of Kisumu to forgive the killers but not forget the great man that Ouko was.
“People of Kisumu West, which was the late Ouko’s birthplace and constituency, will forever remember Ouko as if he was alive and breathing today,” said Aluoch.
Ouko’s anniversary came at a time when Kenyans were mourning the death of another public veteran Kabete MP George Muchai, who was gunned down shortly before Oukos’ anniversary.
Aluoch also questioned why the report put together by the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation commission has not yet been implemented.
Others present were Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabir who added that they will continue pushing for its implementation.
The report recommended the questioning of former President Daniel Moi and former Cabinet minister Nicholas Biwott over Ouko's death.
