Kisumu County has hailed the Kenya Dental Association and Unilever Company for carrying out free dental checkups in a move to boost hygiene in the devolved unit.
Kisumu County Chief Officer for health Dickens Onyango and the Deputy Governor’s wife Antonia Owili on Tuesday said that the two partners played a pivotal role in helping the county entrench its health agenda.
The duo stated that so as to avert future health problems, it was imperative to equip young-ones with knowledge on how to take care of their bodies especially during this time when lifestyle diseases are rife.
However, they insisted that their was need for more players to come on board so as to enable members of the society benefit from medical services adding that poverty and ignorance had prevented most of them from getting required medical attention.
Among the activities performed included teaching children how to brush their teeth, issuing toothpaste and tooth brushes which was conducted at Victoria primary school.
This health drive has entered its stretch in Kisumu County only few weeks shy after a similar week-long event was organized by Kisumu County First Lady Dorothy Nyong’o.
