Kisumu County church pastors on Thursday challenged corrupt leaders to step aside to pave way for investigations.
Speaking at Jerusalem Mission Centre Church, Kisumu County Church Pastors’ chairperson, Ezekiel Apindi, thanked the Kenyan leadership for rebuking corrupt leaders and challenged those adversely mentioned to step aside.
“We need to shun corruption amidst leaders as they slow down development through misappropriation of funds meant to gear development agendas,” said the pastor.
Apindi stated that it was right to rebuke corruption among leaders saying mentioned leaders should have their names cleared before resuming office.
Church doctrine and ethics officer Grace Mwajuma also challenged the leaders to have integrity as they carry out their mandates.
She said all mentioned in the EACC dossier should allow investigations to be conducted whether guilty or not. She further challenged county governments to initiate plans to root out all corrupt leaders in society.
“Let us foster transparency and accountability amongst leaders. We should also create strong measures against leaders found to be corrupt,” said Mwajuma.
