The clergy in Kisumu have appealed to parliament to stop any electoral amendment that can derail the upcoming election.

The chair of the clergy Bishop Winnie Owiti said Kenyans are eager to go to the polls and will not entertain any further road block.

Owiti said MPs must desist from mutilating electoral laws to suit their interest.

She said that Supreme Court made it clear that IEBC to conduct a fresh election based on the existing laws.

“What we are witnessing in this country is sad. Kenyans are ready for polls to be conducted by IEBC using the existing laws. What MPs are now pushing in parliament is a recipe for chaos,” said Owiti.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Friday at her Voice of Salvation and Healing Church, Owiti said NASA and Jubilee should meet IEBC to prepare and conduct fresh polls.

She further appealed to the sides representing President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga in the IEBC talks to mind their language.

Owiti said the language being used by these leaders is not checked properly can sink the country.

“I want to appeal for Siaya Senator James Orengo representing Raila and Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju representing President Kenyatta in the IEBC talks to mind their languages,” she said.

She said that as church they will continue playing their role of mediation and praying for the country not to slide into any political violence.
