Kisumu County Assembly will adjourn it sessions till April 30 Tuesday afternoon in preparation for the Governors’ Devolution Conference scheduled for next week.

In a motion table by Nominated MCA Aslam Khan and seconded by East Seme Ward MCA Aggrey Ogosi on Thursday, he asked the House to adjourned for period of one week.

“Mr speaker we are going to host Devolution Conference that will host 6,500 delegates and 1,000 cooks for four days, therefore we need to take a break,” said Khan.

Khan added, “We must make sure that our guests feel at home and I believe we are going to attend the Conference. Mr. Speaker let this honourable House adjourn next week sessions.” said MCA Ogossi.

MCA Ogossi said that as per the tradition in the African setting people do not welcome visitors home and then run away, so the need to adjourn till the end of the Conference.

Elsewhere, Kisumu North Ward MCA Caroline Owen said that it is an opportunity for Kisumu to see if it has come of age to host Conference of this magnitude. This remarks came after some people alleged that Kisumu has got no capacity to host such kind of event.
