The Kisumu County Assembly has adjourned its sittings until next week on Tuesday following the burial of former Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang. In a motion moved by the assembly majority leader Samuel Ong'ow, the members agreed unanimously that the assembly could not proceed with transacting business in memory of the late senator. Ong'ow said the assembly in mostly constituted by ODM members, adding that they have to be with the party in solidarity since Kajwang was a staunch supporter and believer in the party. Liason chairman John Kadede supported the motion, saying they had to join other Kenyans and dignitaries in giving the fallen senator a befitting send-off. Awasi ward MCA Fanuel Aim said Kajwang was a hero in politics and a mastermind of devolution. House speaker Gabriel Ochieng' concurred with the motion. "The house will adjourn until Tuesday next week, this house stands adjourned," he ruled. The body of the late senator will arrive at the Kisumu International Airport this morning and will then be taken to Jomo Kenyatta sports ground for public viewing before a journey to Waondo village in Homa Bay county where he will be laid to rest.
