Kisumu County Assembly members on Tuesday resolved to leave the the county Deputy Speaker Pamela Jossy to chair the Assembly sessions.
The acting Speaker Gabriel Ochieng said he will leave for Jossy to chair the sessions at the Assembly adding that they will work together with the Jossy since she is the legal person recognised as the speaker by the Court.
“We will proceed with the sessions and vow to respect the rule of law as directed by the Cord leader Raila Odinga,” said Ochieng.
The suspended Minority Leader Samuel Ong'ou said that the stalemate at the Assembly was not caused by members and cautioned outsiders trying to divide the Assembly to trade clearly adding that it was good for members to be united to achieve the success of devolution.
Deputy Speaker Pamela Jossy noted that according to the law, in the absence of Speaker, the Deputy Speaker is lawfully expected to take over any activity in the Assembly without any dispute.
"We have agreed unanimously that I am going to chair the Assembly sessions from today henceforth,” said Jossy.
She denied being attacked by the follow MCAs as was reported in some of the Media Houses.
