Vice chairman of the committee Aggrey Ogosi of East Seme Ward moved the motion in Wednesday’s session seeking extension of time for them to finish their work.

The committee was formed on June 23 last year. However when the motion was being debated, majority of MCAs rejected the extension of time for the committee saying it was not justified at all.

Nominated MCA Pamela Odhiambo said there are numerous challenges facing the sector in Kisumu County and wondered why the committee members could not come up with a report after over one way.

“Over years, our bodaboda guys have been crying, they want help from the county assembly, they want good policies. This can only be done if the committee comes up with a good report, which is now not there,” she said.

Nominated MCA Lydia Adhiambo expressed disappointment with the committee saying they took allowances to travel to Mombasa but did nothing in the end.

Nyalenda B MCA James Oyugi Were said the committee which was being chaired by Ahero Ward MCA Maurice Aloo missed an opportunity to help the assembly find lasting solution for the bodaboda sector.

Speaker Elijah Omondi in his ruling disbanded the ad hoc committee and also ordered the members to be surcharged on the expenditure.

“This is a waste of public resources. It is over one year, nothing to table then they ask for more time,” he said.
