Last week, ODM party leader Raila Odinga told the MCAs to sit down and iron out their differences and allow deputy speaker Pamela Omino to chair the assembly sessions in the absence of speaker Ann Adul.

The assembly majority leader Samuel Ongou on Monday led other MCAs in ironing out the issue but the talks failed to come up with a common ground.

Ongou said they resolved to recognise Omino as the deputy speaker until the case pending before Kisumu Law Courts is heard and determined.

However, Omino said the meeting failed to disband the position of acting speaker now being chaired by Gabriel Ochieng.

Omino said most MCAs pleaded with her to deputise the acting speaker noting that in law, she is the deputy speaker in the absence of the speaker.

She insisted that she will chair the assembly sessions together with the speaker’s panel from today.

Omino last week broke into the speaker’s office and assumed her role as the deputy speaker against the wishes of other MCAs.
