Kisumu County Chief Officer in-charge of Culture, Gender and Sports has affirmed commitment that the county government has to develop youth talents in the area.
Lucy Matengo said the county is doing all it can to see to it that youth talents are nurtured to make them realize their full life potential.
She added that the only way to ensure that the youth are reliable in life is by empowering them on the use of their talents.
She wondered why Kisumu county which is known for its wide pool of talents is still lagging behind in the development of more talents, giving an example of award-winning Lupita Nyong'o who is from the county and also a renowned local comedian Eric Omondi.
Ms Matengo highlighted the path that the Governor Jack Ranguma-led government wants to undertake to develop youth talent development centres in the county.
For example, she said the government is in the process of approving a multi-million budget that will be pumped into youth mentoring initiative where youth talents are identified and developed.
"I want to affirm the commitment that the county government of Kisumu has in the development of youth talent in the area. It is our dream to see that more of our youth are able to make use of their talents to make a living. We have put all measures in place and we are sure that they will work," said the county Sports Chief, in a statement.
