County First Lady Dorothy Nyong'o was present to support the initiative and narrate her own story on cancer. In July 2010 her husband, Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o went for his regular Prostrate Specific Antigen Test (PSA ). This is the antigen that indicates whether cancer cells are present. The test is usually conducted for those aged over 40 years. He tested positive and sought medical attention immediately. Thereafter his health improved. At the time he served in the health sector as the Minister for Health.In 2015 the story of Jadudi surfaced. He was identified as having a brain tumour. The African Cancer Foundation took the initiative and raised seven million to enable him seek treatment in India. All these stories tells us there is life after cancer. Members of the public were encouraged to take advantage of the camp and go for the free screening.Tests being carried out include breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, throat cancer, blood pressure, blood sugar screening, HIV/AIDS and nutrition .
