The Kisumu County Government of is ready to host the Council of Governors forum that is expected to have more than 5,000 visitors next week.

Kennedy Hongo, Chief of Staff in the office of Governor Jack Ranguma said preparations are nearing completion for the event.

Hongo said the county government is ready to host the visitors with chances that President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to officiate the opening of the meeting while his deputy William Ruto will close it.

The one week meeting to be held at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu will take stock of devolution in the country.

The meeting comes at a time when some governors were mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) report to have been involved in corruption but have declined to step aside for investigations.

The Council of Governors Chairman, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, has been in the forefront to criticise calls to step aside.

Other governors mentioned in the report include Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti, Migori Governor Zachary Obado, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, and Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero amongst others.

Hongo said the meeting will boost the economy of the lakeside city and called residents to be receptive to the visitors.

He said hotel industry in Kisumu will be the major beneficiary and called other business people in the city to avail their wares for purchase during the forum period.
