Ranguma said they are doing this to ensure that the harmony the people have always enjoyed is not shaken. He said the residents at the Maseno border which falls at the boundary of Kisumu and Vihiga counties have lived together in harmony for quite a long time without considering where they belong.

The governor appealed to residents living at the border to maintain peace as negotiations to end the impasse gets underway. He said they are determined to ensure that the misunderstanding is resolved faster.

Ranguma however added in a press statement that police officers should be deployed at the border to prevent criminals who may harbor the intention of taking the advantage of the situation to interrupt security at the border.
