Kisumu County Government through the Ministry of Trade, Business and industry on Thursday issued business cheques to a tune of Sh.6.7 million.
Under the captain-ship of Madam Alice Moraa, the money will be used to improve 81 individual small businesses across the county.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, the CEC Member for Economic Planning Richard Ogendo, congratulated the traders for having successfully gone through the approval process.
Ogendo noted that he is honored to be amidst hopeful business-oriented individual during the forum, and emphasized on the Governor’s vision that strives to ensure every life is touched.
Madam Moraa said the county government of Kisumu is keen to support and work with small scale traders in the county.
“The county government of Kisumu is keen to support traders in the county. We urge you traders to work hard towards realizing your goal,”she explained.
The trade fund is an act of the Kisumu County Assembly established for purposes of boosting SME’s and to give life to businesses within the county.
Having gone through a competitive procedure, the regulatory committee recommended 81 applicants out of 101 individuals who applied for the fund.
