A Kisumu Court will on Friday (tomorrow) continue with a public inquest investigating the trail of events that ensued before the death of baby Samantha Pendo.
This is after after an inquiry file was opened one month ago at the court following orders by former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko that a probe into the death be staged to establish the truth.
The probe involves 21 people that include; County Commander Titus Yoma, OCPD Mutume Maweu, OCS John Thiringi and Nyalenda OCS Linah Kosgei.
The security bosses were in charge of deployment of security agents who were suppressing demonstrating youths.
Samantha’s parents; Joseph Abanja and Lenser Achieng have also been listed to testify in the case as civilians.
Kisumu Resident Magistrate Beryl Omollo, will be in charge of the probe.
The DPP while ordering for the inquest noted that private investigations by the police had brought forth no tangible fruits as they cited insufficiency of evidence.
Baby Pendo died on August 15th after sustaining head injuries from allegedly being clobbered on the head by a security officer who was among the troops deployed in Kisumu to quell the post-election protests.
Government consultant pathologist Dickson Mchana who was present during the autopsy procedure which was conducted at Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu, stated that the baby died due internal bleeding occasioned by a fractured and fragmented skull.
