Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili officially closed the Disaster Management Center that had been established temporarily by the office of the governor to help out victims of post-election unrest in the August 8 polls.

During the election that saw IEBC declare Uhuru Kenyatta president-elect, some Kisumu residents took to the streets to protest in support of Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who disputed the election results.

Owili distributed the last bunch of food items to the victims, Thursday, where he appreciated every single person and organisation that contributed towards the noble idea.

The deputy governor called for calm in Kisumu ahead of the Supreme Court petition verdict, Friday. Odinga went to court and filed petition, contesting Uhuru's win.

The temporary Disaster Management Centre was then moved to the office of the governor at Prosperity House, second floor where those who still need services can be attended to.

Owili was accompanied by Kisumu Central MCAs David Arao of Railways Ward, and Seth Ochieng of Milimani Ward among others.
