Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir was early this afternoon rushed to Aga Khan Hospital, over suspected food poisoning.
The hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Sam Oula said the MP was rushed to hospital after experiencing severe dehydration at 2:30 pm.
"Everything is under control, the physician is observing him and basing on the progress, he is okay,” said Dr Oula.
He further said that the alleged food poisoning could be as a result of many things, including contaminated water and utensils.
Speaking to journalists at the hospital, Shabbir said he experienced difficulties yesterday evening, with a lot of sweating, heavy diarrhoea and high fever.
“Am okay for now but I do not think there is anything special under circumstances, but we need to be cautious,” said the MP
“They have carried out a blood test, they looked at my eyes and other tests, they will let us know as time goes by,” added Shabbir.
He noted that it was a strange occurrence, and can not remember eating anywhere suspicious. He is recuperating at the health facility.
