Kisumu East Member of Parliament Shakeel Shabbir has been discharged from hospital where he has been undergoing treatment for food poisoning.
Shabbir was discharged from Aga Khan Hospital on Wednesday afternoon after two nights at the hospital. The MP said he was now feeling much better but was set to undergo more tests at The Karen Hospital in Nairobi.
“Dr Daniel Gikonyo asked me to go take further tests just to be sure am totally out of danger,” said Shabbir.
The Kisumu East legislator is said to have fallen ill on Sunday night with high fever and diarrhoea.He however denied that he had eaten at various functions in the town.
Aga Khan Hospital Medical Director Dr Sam Oula confirmed that Shabbir had been hospitalised on Sunday and would spend Monday night at the hospital.
“Tests had been run on Shabbir and the results revealed that he had suffered food poisoning and severe diarrhoea,” said Dr Oula.
Shabbir said he had his blood samples taken for scrutiny and had tests done on his body organs.
“I did not want to take chances so I had tests done on my liver, heart, kidney and my blood sugar checked,” said Shabbir.
He called on his constituents to be calm and be assured that he is of good health.
