The elders said they want peace and development in Kisumu, hence Governor Jack Ranguma should be left to work and not be disturbed with issues of Propaganda and politics.

Speaking during a consultative meeting at Ahero in Kisumu, led by Elder Benjamin Awoundo, they said whoever wants to sabotage the governor’s office should be kicked out.

They urged Politicians eying the governor’s position to wait until 2017, and leave the governor to concentrate and not engaging in constant wrangles.

The elders, drawn from all the sub-counties in the region, asked Ranguma and his deputy governor Ruth Odinga to work together in harmony.

Awuondo said the governor was elected alone and is not sharing power with any leader, and warned that the Kisumu community stands to protect their government with all means.

The elders said they discourage any group trying to divide members of Kisumu as Seme, Nyakach, Kano, Non- Indigenous or even Kajulu.

They said Kisumu is a cosmopolitan county with all 42 tribes of Kenya, hence such divisions cannot be allowed.

“This group should leave the governor and his team to run Kisumu County peacefully,” said Samson Ong’wen who briefed the media on the final resolutions of the meeting.
