Kisumu County women MCAs are on the spot for allegedly not representing women's views in the county assembly.
Speaking on Wednesday at a Kisumu hotel to group of women, Kisumu women lobby group representative Monica Ajwang called upon the county assembly women MCAs to properly represent their views in the county assembly.
According to her, the women MCAs never gave them adequate service as they never involved them to solicit their views on areas such as women representation, girl child empowerment and job opportunities for the vulnerable.
She further challenged them to involve the public in every agenda that was meant to benefit women, stating that they needed development agenda among women.
Ajwang said, "We want to be fully led by our women leaders through advocating for our societal views, this can only be possible when they involve the women in the stipulated plans.”
Her counterpart, gender sociologist Fildey Nyabira, also noted that women leadership and development needed to be enhanced but only if the women MCAs involve the public properly.
Nominated MCA Farida Salim, however, denied the claims that they under-represented women in the county assembly.
She noted that they were just at the verge of passing a bill of funds allocation towards women empowerment.
