The Kisumu County Disaster Management Committee has been urged to go ahead and ensure that emergency fund is set aside to ensure that all those who are affected by the ongoing floods are helped.
Speaking to the press yesterday while at Kolwa Central, Kelvin Oraro who is the area MCA said that his ward was one of the most affected wards.
"Quite a big number of residents of this ward are really suffering after the banks of river Kibos broke last week. The affected people have lost their properties and even houses. I strongly urge the County Disaster Management Committee to come to our aid and to assist all the afffected people", Oraro said.
Oraro said that the floods have affected more than 50 families and most of them are now sleeping in polythene bag houses and they are waiting for any kind of assistance.
"I am urging the NGOs, County Government together with the National Government and also the well wishers to come and assist all those who were affected by the floods. Any kind of donation is highly welcome," Oraro said
The MCA went ahead and urged the Kisumu County Disaster Management Committee to come and set up some tents which they will use for the time being and to also go ahead and repair the drainage system so as to curb the issue.
