Ford Kenya party leadership in Kisumu County has criticised National Super Alliance (NASA) for keeping quiet as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) allegedly frustrated their push to get the Minority leadership.

Gaston Oketch, who is the Ford-Kenya County Chairman claimed that they have been treated unfairly by NASA leadership who believe that they don’t have a stake and should, therefore, be seen but not heard.

Oketch said NASA does not have a secretariat in Kisumu to tackle such differences before it could escalate into a much bigger problem which could disintegrate the Alliance.

“I urge NASA members to stop and rethink their actions which could threaten affiliate political parties to bolt out. Our ODM colleagues should prioritize development of the county other than perpetuating unnecessary infighting”, he explained.

He argued that although the area was predominantly ODM with the majority representation, the Minority party in Kisumu County Assembly (Ford-Kenya) should also have their say as they forge the way forward as a united team.

Oketch stated that it was unfortunate for the ODM elected leaders to have taken all the seats, effectively locking out the affiliate parties including Ford-Kenya while giving consideration to those elected as Independent candidates.

He observed that inclusivity was more important as opposed to playing politics of exclusion, more so when they played the hardball of cleverly keeping out the affiliate political parties while putting on a brave face as if everything was alright.

We remain hopeful that NASA leader, Raila Odinga and his co-principals: Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka will finally see sense and go flat out to rationalize the constitution leadership in their respective county assemblies.
