Kisumu County Government has been accused of neglecting locals residing in the county and petitioned to allocate funds towards the empowerment of skills in creating job opportunities.
The locals from Kisumu lashed out at the County executive for neglecting the locals by not empowering them and creating job opportunities.
Speaking during the Kisumu forum organized by college to empower academicians held at Tom Mboya Labour College yesterday, Event Organizer and rural gender sociologist Florence Atera said that the county government needed to empower locals in skills inorder to initiate their own employment.
“C since they will use their skill acquired to create employment hence reduced dependency ratio and .’’Said Atera
Atera said that through such, the county government would curb unemployment and promote self-reliance among locals hence promoting its economy by empowering locals.
Alive today youth group chairperson Robert ouko also challenged kisumu county government for neglecting locals and urged those in stake empower locals just like other counties.
“Sister counties like Homa Bay, Kisii and Migori are empowering locals in promoting their skills.
This should be emulated by Kisumu, ‘said Ouko
Nyalenda representative also urged the county government to allocate funds and come up with funds to promote locals skills.
