Newly elected Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has taken over power from Outgoing Governor Jack Ranguma following his swearing in ceremony on Monday.

However, Ranguma did not attend the event after stating that the elections were questionable.

"I cannot endorse an illegitimate election. Furthermore, I neither saw the invitation letter nor was I briefed about the programme," he said as reported by The Star.The Governor Nyong'o took time to  list some of his plans he intends to implement in the county.

He also spoke out about the post- election violence and spoke to the victims of the police assault, specifically the family of 6-month-old Samantha Pendo.

"Seven people were killed and the whereabouts of four people remain unknown," the governor claimed.

He went on to support National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga and promised that he will ensure development is carried out in the county."We will use the constitution to ensure the fruits of devolution get to the people as was initially planned."
