Philanthropist Dr Hezron Makobewa has called upon leaders in Kisumu County to support education by improving facilities.
Makobewa who is also the director of Ogra Foundation said most education facilities in the county are in pathetic condition.
He said it is time for leaders to pull resources together to aid in developing educational facilities.
Speaking at Katolo Mixed Secondary school in Nyando constituency on Friday where he was the chief guest during a fundraising for the building of a dormitory, Makobewa reiterated his commitment to continue developing education facilities in the county.
“I will continue assisting schools in coming up with facilities that can enable education to go on well,” he said.
The area MP Fred Outa who was present challenged other schools to follow the footsteps of Katolo in terms of using funds meant for development.
Outa said the school committee has used prudently funds for development of the school.
He said the school is the best example how public funds can develop schools if put into proper use.
The fundraising collected over Sh 2m with Nyando CDF giving a cheque of Sh 1m towards the construction of the boy’s dormitory in a school with over 1,000 students.
