A middle-aged man who left a Maseno university student with a hotel bill of Sh18, 000 has been arrested.
The man was arrested after the student and the police set up a trap in Lolwe Estate.
The student had reported the incident at Kondele police station and set up a trap at Lolwe Estate.T hrough her friend, she enticed the Majengo man and after several texts and calls, the two decided to meet up.
She arranged with police officers and waited for him as they hide in a nearby M-PESA shop. The man arrived and met up with the girl.
They then decided to have drinks in a nearby bar in Lolwe Estate. The police officers who were waiting by ambushed him and arrested him.
On seeing the female student he had left in a hotel room with the bill, he started pleading with her to let him go promising to pay all the money but the student would hear nothing of his pleas.
Last week, the man took the 3rd year student on a date at an expensive city hotel and upon realizing that they had accumulated a huge bill he disappeared.
Following his disappearance, the student was given two weeks to clear the hotel bill or face the school disciplinary panel.
Her National ID and Student ID were withheld by the hotel management.
Speaking after the arrest, the student said she had learnt her lesson and never will she trust a stranger again in her life.
“It was stupid of me trusting the stranger. I thought he was a nice guy and we were having fun but upon disappearing leaving me with a bill of Sh18, 000 I realized I was in trouble,” she stated.
